A Legal Nurse Consultant (LNC) is a licensed Registered Nurse who assesses complex information in legal cases, helping to bridge the gap between the legal system, healthcare science, and patient outcomes. 

An LNC generally works "behind the scenes", including performing the following:

• Reviews and analyzes medical records
• Creates Chronologies/Timelines and Fact Summaries
• Conducts client interviews
• Conducts medical literature reviews
• Identifies medical professional Standards of Practice
• Identifies and secures  expert witnesses
• Translates healthcare language for attorneys 
• Provides testimony in court as an expert witness (obviously, not “behind-the-scene”)
